There is always a first for everything and tonight’s auction was no exception. An expat couple, Brad and Anne, in China decided that 9 Carina Road Turramurra (marketed by William Robinson of Century 21 Cordeau Marshall) was what they wanted and purchased the property site unseen using the Live Online Bidding service.

It’s normally a red flag to us when a buyer registers to Bid Live Online from offshore and they haven’t seen the property or at least had someone they know go through the property. But after receiving their registration, letter of authority, proof of identity and doing other checks they passed our strict registration criteria and we authorised the couple to bid.

Next thing was to make sure the couple were comfortable bidding using the Live Online Bidding service. Initially, the couple were a little daunted by the fact that they were going to use the Internet to bid for their dream property. However, after watching the 5 minute instructional video, having a play on the practice auction and a one on one conversation to answer any outstanding questions their attitude had changed. Brad even made the comment about the Live Online Bidding service as being “too easy”.

The auction started at $600,000 and was hotly contested. In total 18 bids were accepted at an average rate of 6 bids / minute with 28% of the bids being online bids. The property was eventually sold under the hammer to Brad and Anne for $765,000.
